OGIER MICHEL & STEPHANE
Domaine Ogier has been in existence for 7 generations. Initially focused on mixed farming, it began specializing in the production of Rhône Valley wines in 1997. It was the arrival of Stéphane Ogier, Michel's son, that really launched the vineyard's development.
Trained in Burgundy and South Africa, the young winemaker is committed to a new approach to the wine produced on the family estate. Stéphane Ogier works precisely on each terroir before blending. He uses parcel-by-parcel vinification. His aim is to reveal their unique character. The quality of his wines has been rewarded with numerous awards.
Location of Domaine Ogier Michel et Stéphane
Domaine Ogier Michel et Stéphane is located in Ampuis. It covered 2.5 hectares in 1997. Today, the vineyard covers 20 hectares, with Syrah and Viognier varieties. The domaine's vineyards are mainly located in the Côte-Rôtie appellation, in the northern Rhône Valley. In particular, it's on the Côte Brune and its schist soils that Stéphane Ogier reveals his Côte-Rôtie Belle Hélène cuvée. The highly sought-after Cuvée Lancement comes from the neighboring slopes of Côte Blonde and its granite soils.
Stéphane Ogier's estate is farmed organically. Some ploughing in the hills is done with a horse. All the conditions in the vineyard are ripe for the best expression of terroir, vines and wine.
