PRIEUR JACQUES

10 km from Beaune, in the heart of Burgundy, the story of Domaine Jacques Prieur began in 1868. Two descendants of Burgundy winegrowers acquired promising plots of land around Meursault. Jacques Prieur, the couple's sole heir, then gave his name to the estate. Today, the 21-hectare estate belongs to the Labruyère family. Nadine Gublin is responsible for the technical management of Domaine Jacques Prieur, applying the principles of organic farming.

Geographical location of Domaine Jacques Prieur

Domaine Jacques Prieur comprises a variety of terroirs benefiting from the richness of Burgundy's climates. The land stretches from the Côte de Nuits to the Côte de Beaune. Around the commune of Meursault, the estate covers 21 hectares of vines. They are equally divided between Chardonnay for white wines and Pinot Noir for reds. Domaine Jacques Prieur's clay-limestone soil is worked by rigorous craftsmen who are experts in Burgundy wines.

Domaine Jacques Prieur wines

Domaine Jacques Prieur produces great, modern, consistent wines, representative of Burgundy. They are aged in oak barrels selected by local craftsmen. It lasts around 20 months before bottling.

The red wine is made exclusively from Pinot Noir. The estate's appellations range from Côte de Beaune to Côte de Nuits. Domaine Jacques Prieur has the distinction of covering a third of Burgundy's Grands Crus appellations: Chambertin, Échezeaux, Clos de Vougeot, Corton-Bressandes and Musigny. Added to this pride of place are the estate's 14 Premiers Crus, such as Volnay Santenots and Beaune Champs-Pimont in red.

White wines are made entirely from Chardonnay in the Grands Crus de Bourgogne appellations: Montrachet, Chevalier-Montrachet and Corton-Charlemagne. Premiers Crus complete the white range, including Meursault Santenots and Puligny-Montrachet Les Combettes. Finally, the domaine offers a Villages Meursault Clos de Mazeray Monopole appellation.
