GRIVOT JEAN
Despite its modest size, Domaine Jean Grivot is a major name in Vosne-Romanée vineyards and Burgundy red wines. Operated by the Grivot family for six generations, this owner-grower estate boasts an exceptional heritage. Clos de Vougeot, Richebourg, Échezeaux: Domaine Jean Grivot boasts a wealth of prestigious vineyards and climates. This diversity enables the Grivot family to produce 22 red wine appellations, including three Grands Crus and 12 Premiers Crus.
Geographical location of Domaine Jean Grivot
Domaine Jean Grivot is located in Vosne-Romanée, one of the most renowned terroirs of the Côte de Nuits. The soils of this terroir are predominantly marl and limestone. Their characteristic red color is due to the iron oxide content of the clay. With a total surface area of some 15 hectares, the domaine also owns plots in Vougeot, Nuits-Saint-Georges, Flagey-Échezeaux and Chambolle-Musigny. The majority of the estate's vines are Pinot Noir. Only a 20-acre plot in Vosne-Romanée is planted with Chardonnay.
Domaine Jean Grivot wines
Domaine Jean Grivot's vines are organically grown. The Pinot Noir grapes are completely destemmed before fermentation, which takes place naturally. The proportion of new barrels used to age the wine varies from 25% for Village appellation wines to 40% for Grands Crus. Bottling takes place on the estate.
Domaine Jean Givot offers three Grands Crus de Bourgogne. These are the Grands Crus Richebourg, Échezeaux and Clos de Vougeot. Alongside these prestigious wines, the domaine also produces some excellent Premiers Crus. In Vosne-Romanée, these include the Premiers Crus Les Beaux Monts, Aux Brûlées, Les Suchots, Les Rouges and Les Chaumes. In Nuits-Saint-Georges, the Premiers Crus Aux Boudots and Les Pruliers.
In the Village appellation, Domaine Jean Givot offers Vosne-Romanée Bossières and Chambolle-Musigny La Combe d'Orveau. These wines are accompanied by Nuits-Saint-Georges Aux Lavières and Les Charmois.
