ROUGET EMMANUEL

Emmanuel Rouget is none other than the nephew of the famous Henri Jayer, an icon among Burgundy winegrowers. After working on Cros Parantoux as a tenant farmer, he soon became the owner. Henri Jayer transformed this wasteland into an iconic Premier Cru. Emmanuel Rouget learned everything about winegrowing from his uncle. This experience makes him as much an heir to his land as to his philosophy and reputation in Burgundy. Today, he works at Domaine Emmanuel Rouget in the commune of Flagey-Échezeaux.

Geographical location of Domaine Emmanuel Rouget

The lands of Domaine Emmanuel Rouget are spread across the narrow zone of the Côte de Nuits. Its wines are produced in the Vosne-Romanée, Vosne-Romanée Premier Cru, Échezeaux Grand Cru, Côte de Nuits-Villages, Savigny-lès-Beaune and Nuits-Saint-Georges appellations. The growing methods handed down by Henri Jayer respect the soil and terroir. For the past 5 years, Emmanuel Rouget has worked the land at Cros Parantoux on horseback.

Domaine Emmanuel Rouget wines

Emmanuel Rouget's wines are produced in the Jayer style. The elegant red and white cuvées gain in complexity over time. These collector's wines have become a benchmark in Burgundy. They are the expression of the craftsmanship of the famous winemaker's nephew. Emmanuel Rouget's integrated winemaking methods have ensured his place on the Burgundy wine list. Since 2002, the wine has been aged on its lees in oak barrels. His intervention in the cellar remains minimal.

Cros Parantoux has long been the estate's benchmark. Emmanuel Rouget has become an undisputed master of Pinot Noir in the region. Respect for the grapes allows the Burgundy variety to flourish. But it's not the only grape variety he handles expertly. Emmanuel works Gamay with Pinot Noir in his Bourgogne Passetoutgrain. He also produces a fine white wine in the Bourgogne Aligoté appellation.
