COLIN MARC
Marc Colin founded the eponymous domaine in the late 1970s with his wife Michèle. Initially, the estate consisted of vines that had belonged to the Colin and Ponavoy families; 6 hectares in all, stretching over the communes of Chassagne-Montrachet and Saint-Aubin. They expanded the estate, doubling the size of the vineyard! Today, two of their children run the estate: Caroline and Damien. Part of the estate is run using integrated farming methods, while another part is undergoing organic trials. Damien and Caroline's aim is to avoid the use of chemicals, in order to obtain better-quality grapes.
Geographical location
Domaine Marc Colin covers 12 hectares and 26 appellations in the villages of Chassagne-Montrachet, Saint-Aubin, Puligny-Montrachet and Santenay. These appellations include Bourgogne, Bourgogne villages, 1er Cru and Grand Cru, notably Bâtard-Montrachet Grand Cru and Montrachet Grand Cru.
Domaine wines
Domaine Marc Colin makes mainly white wines (90% of production), with a minority of reds (10% of production). We could talk about all the Domaine's wines, but we've chosen to highlight the Puligny-Montrachet 1er Cru Les Champs Gains. Aged in oak barrels (around 30% new depending on the vintage), it expresses aromas of orange and lemon zest, with delicate peach notes in harmony with the woody notes. On the palate, controlled acidity, almond and walnut flavors and a beautiful finish of dried fruit.
