BERECHE PERE & FILS

Champagne Bérêche Père et Fils dates back to 1847, when this Hungarian emigrant settled in the Champagne region. Today, the House is run by the fifth generation, with Vincent and Raphaël assisted by five employees and the support of their parents. Initially, the Bérêche family supplied grapes to Maison Canard Duchêne. In the 1920s, Albert Bérêche began producing his own wine, a brut de Champagne that was not sparkling at the time. It was his grandson, Pierre Bérêche, who completely extracted himself from Maison Canard Duchêne, producing, bottling and marketing at the Domaine.

Location of Maison Bérêche Père et fils

From an initial area of 3 hectares, the estate has grown steadily, doubling and tripling over the years. Today, Maison Bérêche covers some 10 hectares in the heart of the Champagne region. The soils are limestone and clay-limestone. In 2003, Jean-Pierre and Catherine Bérêche decided to stop using herbicides on their vines, in preparation for the transition to organic farming. From then on, Maison Bérêche made a solid pact with organic farming. The vines and soil are meticulously treated. In fact, this estate is one of the few to have been awarded the Haute Valeur Environnementale level 3 certification. It has to be said that the Maison's 10 hectares are divided into two main parts. On 6.5 hectares, Pinot Meunier occupies 67% of the surface and Pinot Noir 43%. Chardonnay is grown on the remaining 3.5 hectares. Vinification involves slow, spontaneous fermentation followed by ageing on lees. The aim is to offer the purest possible style.
