JACQUESON PAUL

Henri Jacqueson was one of five winegrowers to replant vines in Rully, Burgundy after the war. In 1946, he took over the family land and recreated a vineyard. 35 years later, in 1971, his son Paul Jacqueson took over the reins. He gave his name to Domaine Paul Jacqueson. One more generation and the baton is passed to Marie Jacqueson, Paul Pacqueson's daughter. Her brother Pierre joins her to run an 18-hectare estate in Rully, Mercurey and Bouzeron. 15 Premiers Crus are produced on the estate, including the white wine Rully La Pucelle and the red Burgundy Mercurey Les Champs Martin.

Location of Domaine Paul Jacqueson

Domaine Paul Jacqueson is located in the heart of Burgundy and the Côte Chalonnaise. The Côte Chalonnaise lies to the south of the Côte de Nuits and Côte de Beaune. The limestone soils of the Rully estate are very stony. Exposure is mainly east-south-east for the Chardonnays. The soil in which the Rully and Mercurey reds flourish is clay, limestone or clay-loam. Exposure faces east, south and even west for the Rully La Barre appellation.

Domaine Paul Jacqueson wines

Domaine Paul Jacqueson produces 55% red wines and 45% white wines. The white wine produced at the domaine comes mainly from vineyards located in Rully. These include Premiers Cru La Pucelles, Grésigny, Margotés, Raclot and Vauvry. The grape variety is Chardonnay, as is often the case in Burgundy.

Pinot Noir is the grape variety for Domaine Paul Jacqueson's red wines. These include the Préaux, La Barre, Cloux and Les Deux Clous appellations. The domaine also has a monopoly on the Rully Premier Cru Clos de la Renarde appellation. In Mercurey, the appellations Les Champs Martin, Les Naugues, Les Vaux and Les Velley are also classified Premiers Crus.
