MOREAU CHRISTIAN
For six generations, the Moreau family has honored the Chablis terroir. In 2002, Fabien Moreau took over from his father. The estate was then renamed Christian Moreau Père et Fils. Fabien works with respect for the soil, the vines and the grapes, to produce top-quality white Burgundy wines. The grapes are harvested and sorted by hand. Each plot is vinified separately in small vats. In keeping with its policy of respecting and protecting the land, Domaine Christian Moreau began its conversion to organic white wine in 2004. Today, every Domaine Christian Moreau vintage is certified organic.
Geographical location of Domaine Christian Moreau
Domaine Christian Moreau Père et Fils has a modern winery in the heart of Chablis, at the foot of the vineyards. Fabien Moreau owns 12 hectares of vines, spread around the village. His plots are well exposed and promise quality vintages. The vineyard extends over several Chablis climats: Vaillon, Les Pargues, Les Clos, Valmur, Vaudésir and Blanchot. But Domaine Christian Moreau's most precious parcel of vines is Le Clos des Hospices. Owned by the family since 1904, it produces a Grand Cru Monopole.
Domaine Christian Moreau wines
Domaine Christian Moreau Père et Fils offers fine, powerful organic Chardonnay. The range includes five exceptional Grands Crus, two Premiers Crus, two AOC Chablis and one Petit Chablis. The estate's most famous Levin is Grand Cru Les Clos, an organic white wine with mineral notes. The Grand Cru Clos des Hospices, the estate's monopoly, offers a more pronounced taste on the palate. Another outstanding dry white wine, Premier Cru Vaillon Guy Moreau, is made from the estate's oldest vines, planted by Guy Moreau in 1933.
