LE NID - LARDET FAMILY

Domaine le Nid in a nutshell? It's hard to choose just one word, but in 4 words we'd say: Family, Terroir, Hedonism and Authenticity. This estate was created at the beginning of the 20th century and has always been a family business. The Lardet family took over the reins of the estate in 2012. Parents and children have embarked on the winegrowing adventure with passion. Paul and Danielle, the parents, accompanied by their children Delphine, Jocelyn and Stéphane, decided to rename the Domaine "Le Nid" as a symbol of their unity.

Supported by their cellar master and oenologist, they vinify with respect for tradition, while breathing new life into Moulin-à-Vent appellation wines. The Lardet family cultivates Gamay, the historic Beaujolais grape variety, using integrated farming methods. This choice is in line with the family's values: they are close to nature, taking care of the soil and the vines with regular checks in the vineyard, and intervening if necessary in the event of a health hazard. All work is done by hand.

Geographical location

Domaine Le Nid is located in Charnay, between Villefranche-sur-Soâne and Lyon. It covers 6 hectares divided into 12 parcels. The rich soil is composed of sandstone and pink, friable granitic arena, with a precious trace element: manganese. Manganese gives the Moulin à Vent du Domaine Le Nid more intense tannins.

Domaine wines

Domaine Le Nid wines are the very expression of Beaujolais terroir, with a touch of Burgundy. They have good ageing potential, thanks in particular to their tannic structure and powerful aromatic bouquet. Two of the Domaine's cuvées are made from plot-by-plot selections and aged in oak barrels: "La Rochelle" and "Rochegrés".
