FINCA VILLACRECES

FINCA VILLACRECES

Domaine Finca Villacreces was founded in 2007. Rich in history, Villacreces was once a retreat for Franciscan monks. Privately owned in 1836, it became the second home of the Cuadrado family in the early 20th century. Gonzalo and Lalo Antón discovered the site in 2004. The Antón brothers already owned vineyards in northern and eastern Spain. Pedro Cuadrado decided to leave his vineyards to Gonzalo and Lalo, who then became owners of one of the finest vineyards in Spain's Ribera del Duero region.

Geographical location of the estate

The Finca Villacreces estate enjoys a unique environment, at an altitude of 700 meters. It is surrounded by the Ribera del Duero and a centuries-old pine forest, which protects the estate from the extreme temperature variations associated with the climate. The 64 hectares of vines are located on a meander of the Douro River, in the heart of Spain's Ribera del Duero region. The estate includes plots of different grape varieties: Tempranillo (or Tinto Fino), Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot, on sandy soils.

Estate wines

The wine produced at Domaine Finca Villacreces is an authentic wine with a strong personality. Finca Villacreces Pruno is made from 90% Tempranillo grapes and 10% Cabernet Sauvignon. Its notes of red fruit and caramel give it a seductive mouthfeel. Finca Villacreces is the estate's flagship wine (made from Tempranillo, Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot), and comes from a selection of low-yielding vines, giving it great concentration and balance on the palate. Finally, Finca Villacreces Specimen is a unique wine, made from very old vines belonging to the estate.
