FULIGNI

Domaine Fuligni is a historic estate inItaly. It belongs to a family of Venetian origin, who settled in Tuscany in the XVIIIᵉ century. This family first planted vines in the Maremma region, then moved to Montalcino in the early XXᵉ century. Here, they bought the Cottimelli estate from Gontrano Biondi-Santi, then acquired an eighteenthᵉ century palace in the center of Montalcino town. Maria Flora Fuligni took over the estate in 1971. She began marketing the wine in 1975. Until then, it had been reserved for the Fuligni family.

Location of the Fuligni estate

Domaine Fuligni is locatedeast of Montalcino in Italy. It is located in the commune of Cottimelli, at an altitude of around 400 meters. The vineyard covers 14 hectares and is planted almost exclusively with Sangiovese. There is also a small amount of Merlot. The vines are planted on clay soils with southeast exposure.

At Domaine Fuligni, the grapes are harvested by hand. The grapes used are rigorously selected. Each plot is vinified separately, then blended as required. Domaine Fuligni wines are traditionally aged in foudres. They have good ageing potential.

Domaine Fuligni produces Brunello di Montalcino Riserva, Brunello di Montalcino DOCG and Rosso di Montalcino DOC Ginestreto. In recent years, the estate has expanded its range to include two IGT Toscana wines.
