CHÂTEAU BEYCHEVELLE

Château Beychevelle is a prestigious estate and red wine in the Saint-Julienappellation. This 4th Grand Cru Classé de Bordeaux takes its name and emblem from a 17th-century legend. It was once owned by the First Duke of Épernon. He was so powerful that ships passing the château had to lower their sails as a sign of respect and allegiance to the Duke. The name Château Beychevelle comes from the Gascon "Bêcha vêla" meaning Lowered Sail. It was the home of the Governor of Guyenne, the French Grand Admiral Jean-Louis Nogaret de Valette. Since 1986, the château has been owned by Grands Millésimes de France.

Location of Château Beychevelle

Not far from Bordeaux, the village of Saint-Julien is the birthplace of Château de Beychevelle. The vineyard covers 92.5 hectares of Gunzian gravel. Classic Médoc grape varieties are adapted to the specific characteristics of each plot. 52% Cabernet Sauvignon, 40% Merlot, 5% Cabernet Franc and 3% Petit Verdot are planted near the Gironde estuary. The vineyards benefit from a terroir and climate conducive to the development of Cabernet Sauvignon. This contributes to the exceptional quality of Château Beychevelle red wine.

Château Beychevelle is a classic Médoc wine from the Saint-Julien AOC. It is an elegant, silky red wine. Powerful and well-balanced, it has been hailed for its consistency and quality over the years. From the vine to the cellar, the wine is made to order. Each vintage is the fruit of a rigorous selection of grapes. Harvesting and sorting are carried out by hand, according to grape variety, terroir and age of vines. Château de Beychevelle's vineyards are cultivated using sustainable methods. The château's second wine isAmiral de Beychevelle. Made from younger vines, it has all the qualities of the first wine.
