Louis Gaspard d'Estournel founded Château Cos d'Estournel in 1811. This wine estate is located in Saint-Estèphe, Gironde. Château Cos d'Estournel produces renowned Bordeaux red wines, including one classified Second Grand Cru in 1855. In 2006, Michel Reybier became the owner of Cos d'Estournel. Michel Reybier is passionate about Bordeaux wines. The vineyard's 100 hectares are divided into small parcels. Château Cos d'Estournel produces exceptional vintages. Harvesting is done by hand.

Geographical location of Château Cos d'Estournel

Château Cos d'Estournel is located south of Saint-Estèphe. The estate is located in the Médoc at Saint-Estèphe, south of the commune of Pauillac. The vineyards are planted on gravelly soils and a clay and limestone subsoil. The vines grow on the Colline de Cos, a hillside and plateau. Château Cos d'Estournel lies to theeast of the Gironde estuary. The vines benefit from an oceanic climate with mild temperatures and high rainfall.

Wines of Château Cos d'Estournel

Château Cos d'Estournel produces five wines. Château Cos d'Estournel is the benchmark wine. The blend of grape varieties varies from year to year, with mainly Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot and Cabernet Franc in certain vintages. The second red wine is called Pagodes de Cos d'Estournel. It's a delicate, unctuous wine with fruity notes. Goulée by Cos d'Estournel is the third wine. In 2019, this Saint-Estèphe becomes G d'Estournel. Château Cos d'Estournel also makes two white wines: Cos d'Estournel Blanc and Pagodes de Cos Blanc. These white wines are made from Sauvignon Blanc and Sémillon grapes.
