CHÂTEAU LÉOVILLE POYFERRÉ

Château Léoville Poyferré has belonged to the Cuvelier family since 1920. Didier Cuvelier continues the history of this Bordeaux wine estate in the heart of the Médoc. Château Léoville Poyferré is a Saint-Julien appellation, classified Second Grand Cru in 1855. The château is one of the oldest in the Médoc. The vineyard is divided into several parcels. The vines are harvested by hand under the watchful eye of Michel Rolland and oenologist Isabelle Danvin. The year 2020 celebrates the centenary of the Cuvelier family, at the helm of this Bordeaux wine.

Location of Château Léoville Poyferré

Château Léoville Poyferré is located in Saint-Julien-Beychevelle, between Pauillac and Margaux in the Médoc. This 80-hectare vineyard is one of the largest in the Médoc. It benefits from a rich terroir composed of several gravelly soils. The vines are planted on Mindel gravel with a sandy-clay subsoil. Château Léoville Poyferré is located on the left bank of the Gironde estuary. The vines benefit from a temperate oceanic climate, highly favorable to viticulture.

Wines of Château Léoville Poyferré

Château Léoville Poyferré produces four red wines. The Second Grand Cru Château Léoville Poyferré is composed mainly of Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot. Depending on the vintage, Cabernet Franc and Petit Verdot are added. The second red wine is Pavillon de Léoville Poyferré, to be enjoyed young. This Bordeaux wine has fruity notes. Château Moulin Riche has 20 hectares of vines on the estate. This Saint-Julien is a blend of Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot and Petit Verdot. M de Moulin Riche is the château's second wine. 2018 marks the birth of this Bordeaux red wine.
