CHÂTEAU GUIRAUD

In 2006, Xavier Planty, Olivier Bernard, Stephan Von Neipperg and Robert Peugeot became owners of Château Guiraud. Xavier Planty decided to develop organic viticulture at the château. These Bordeaux wine enthusiasts are committed to integrated, chemical-free viticulture. In 2021, Matthieu Gufflet becomes the majority shareholder in Château Guiraud. Located in Sauternes, Gironde, Château Guiraud was classified Premier Grand Cru in 1855. In 2011, this Bordeaux white wine became the first to obtain the AB label. This Bordeaux Blanc is considered one of the finest wines in the Sauternes appellation.

Location of Château Guiraud

Château Guiraud is located on the famous Bordeaux wine route. The estate is located in the commune of Sauternes, 45 km south of Bordeaux. The vast 128-hectare vineyard extends over a soil composed of 80% sandy gravel and 20% clayey gravel. This Sauternes château, located on the left bank of the Garonne, enjoys an oceanic climate. Château Guiraud benefits from very favorable climatic conditions to produce exceptional vintages.

Château Guiraud wines

Château Guiraud offers three white wines. Château Guiraud is produced only in years when the harvest is of the highest quality. This first Sauternes Grand Cru offers fruity notes and a golden color. The second wine is Le Petit Guiraud. This Sauternes is vinified in part with Château Guiraud. Le G de Guiraud is the château's third wine. It is produced with 50% Sauvignon Blanc and 50% Semillon. This dry white wine is a certified organic Bordeaux Supérieur appellation.
