LIVERA PHILIPPE
Damien, son of Philippe Livera, has been managing the family domaine in Gevrey-Chambertin, Burgundy, since 2007. He represents the fourth generation of the family of Mathé Livera, his great-grandfather, an Italian mason who arrived in Côte-d'Or in 1920. Formerly called Domaine des Tilleuls, Damien's business has carried his father's name since 2015, Domaine Philippe Livera. His sister Hélène joined him in 2016 to take charge of the commercial aspects of the business. The family adventure in Burgundy vineyards continues.
Location of Domaine Philippe Livera
Domaine Philippe Livera comprises almost 9 hectares of vines, spread over some forty parcels in the Côte de Nuits. Damien practises integrated agriculture on these lands located in the communes of Gevrey-Chambertin, Brochon and Fixin. The vineyard is planted mainly with Pinot Noir. The clay-limestone soils enable us to produce wines of character, with great diversity depending on the climate. Grape sorting begins in the vineyard and continues on the table. Vinification takes place in concrete vats. Aging in oak barrels lasts from 12 to 18 months. Damien renews the barrels every 4 years to prevent the wood from clogging.
Domaine Philippe Livera wines
Thanks to the variety of its terroirs, Domaine Philippe Livera offers wines for ageing, as well as more modern wines to be enjoyed at any age. It produces a Grand Cru, the Chapelle-Chambertin Grand Cru. The estate's other red wines are Villages appellations, such as Gevrey-Chambertin En Champs and Côtes de Nuits Villages. As for Gevrey-Chambertin Clos Village, this is Damien Livera's flagship production. With 1.5 hectares of vines, he produces this wine typical of the Gevrey-Chambertin commune, an elegant, well-structured wine for laying down. Other red wines include Marsannay and Fixin. Finally, the domaine also produces white Burgundy wine from a very small parcel planted with Burgundy Chardonnay.
