PELICAN

Le Domaine du Pélican is the story of a wonderful encounter between a renowned winemaker, Guillaume d'Angerville (Domaine Marquis d'Angerville in Volnay), and Jura wines. Amazed by the taste of a Jura Chardonnay at lunch, Guillaume d'Angerville decided to create an estate in the famous Arbois wine region.

After five years of searching for the best terroirs in the Jura, Domaine du Pélican was born in 2012 around a vineyard made up of plot acquisitions and rentals. Guillaume d'Angerville joins forces with François Duvivier, the estate's manager, in this formidable adventure.

Location of Domaine du Pélican

Domaine du Pélican is located in the village of Montigny-lès-Arsures, near Arbois. The vineyard covers 15 hectares. These come mainly from two major Jura estates: Château de Chavanes and Domaine Jacques Puffeney. The plots are planted with the traditional grape varieties of the Jura terroir: Pinot noir, Trousseau, Poulsard for the red wine, and Savagnin and Chardonnay for the white.

The vines are cultivated according to biodynamic principles, without herbicides or pesticides. Situated within a 2 km radius of Montigny-lès-Arsures, the plots benefit from their proximity to benefit from attentive care.

Domaine du Pélican wines

The grapes are harvested by hand. Extraction methods are gentle and natural. The Domaine du Pélican winemakers follow the winemaking process with meticulous delicacy . The wines are then aged in oak barrels or foudres for 10 to 18 months, depending on the grape variety.

The Guillaume d'Angerville estate successfully produces Arbois appellation wines. Each cuvée comes from a prestigious Jura locality. White wines include Chardonnay from the Grand Curoulet and En Barbi terroirs. The Savagnin Ouillé and Savagnin Macération Pelliculaire cuvées complete the Arbois white offer. In red wine, Jura's emblematic grape varieties enchant the Saint-Laurent Pinot noir, Poulsard, Béranger Trousseau and Trois Cépages cuvées.
