BOXLER ALBERT

Today, a key wine producer in Alsace, the history of the Albert Boxler estate dates back to the end of the 17ᵉ century. Jean Boxler, having left Switzerland, settled in Alsace, in the commune of Niedermorschwihr. Jean Boxler began producing wine in 1673. Since then, the estate has been handed down from generation to generation. Later, Albert Boxler and his wife took over the reins of the family estate, renaming it Domaine Albert Boxler. They expanded the estate by acquiring numerous parcels, notably on the Sommerberg hillside. They restructured the estate and introduced wine bottling at the Domaine. The estate was taken over by his son Jean-Marc Boxler in 1962, and continues to raise the quality of the wines produced.

Location of the estate

Today, the Albert Boxler estate covers 19 hectares of granite terroirs around Niedermorschwihr, half of which are located in the Brand and Sommerberg Grands Crus. The estate produces mainly white wines from Riesling, Pinot blanc, Pinot gris, Gewurztraminer, Sylvaner and Muscat à petits grains blancs grapes. Only 1 hectare is dedicated to red wine production, where Pinot Noir is planted. The vines are on average 35 years old. Harvesting is manual, as is the rest of the vineyard work, due to the steep slopes and terraces.

Domaine wines

The wines produced by Domaine Albert Boxler are remarkably pure and elegant. The estate produces around 60,000 bottles each year. The estate's famous Riesling Grand Cru Sommerberg is pure, aromatic and concentrated, and all the estate's cuvées are in the image of this Grand Cru: fine, precise, intense and balanced.
