FATTORIA CERRETO LIBRI

The Fattoria Cerreto Libri estate is a pioneer in biodynamic viticulture in Italy. Its founder, Andrea Zanfei, is the father of natural viticulture in Tuscany. Since his death in 2018, the Fattoria Cerreto Libri estate has been run by his wife, Valentina Baldini Libri. The estate has belonged to the Libri family since the end of the XVIIIᵉ century. Protecting the environment and natural resources is central to the production of all Fattoria Cerreto Libri vintages.

Location of the Fattoria Cerreto Libri estate

The Fattoria Cerreto Libri estate is located in Pontassieve, in the Florence region of Tuscany. It extends over five hectares of vineyards initially specialized in Chianti Rùfina. The region stands out from the rest of Tuscany. The microclimate benefits from the influence of the Sieve River, which flows into the Arno, bringing humidity. Temperature differences between day and night are significant. The estate grows Trebbiano, an autochthonous white grape variety, as well as Tuscan Malvasia. Sangiovese and the forgotten red varieties Colorino and Canaiolo are also grown here.

Fattoria Cerreto Libri estate wines

Fattoria Cerreto Libri wines are certified organic. They represent quality natural viticulture in Italy. The estate uses neither oak barrels for aging nor filters. The estate has chosen to downgrade its Chianti Rùfina DOCG wine so as to be free to age it in bottle for longer than permitted. The result is Liber IGT Rosso Toscano, a blend of Sangiovese, Colorino and Canaiolo. It features the classic acidity of Chianti Rùfina. Padronale IGT Rosso Toscano is another red wine produced by the estate.
