CHÂTEAU CAPBERN

Château Capbern, over a century old and closely linked to Château Calon-Ségur, owned by the Ségur family from 1659 to 1681, traces its history back to the 18th century. Denise Capbern Gasqueton 's family happily owned the estate from 1894 to 2012. For many years, the estate bore her name: Château Capbern Gasqueton. The estate has since been sold to the Suravenir company. The vineyard is now headed by Laurent Dufau as manager, Eric Boissenot as consultant oenologist and Vincent Millet as operations manager.

Location of Château Capbern

CH TEAU CAPBERN is a Bordeaux vineyard located in the heart of the Saint-Estèphe region in Gironde. The château covers 38 hectares. The soils are gravel-sand, limestone and gravel-clay. These terroir properties enable the production of vintage wines, giving the wines unique specificities.

Château Capbern wines

Château Capbern produces mainly red wines from 3 different grape varieties: Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot and Petit Verdot. Farming is carried out in a sustainable manner, and the grapes are harvested by hand.

Although the château is a very old one, over the years it has acquired modern, sophisticated equipment to make the most of its grapes. The wine-making process begins with vatting of the must in temperature-controlled stainless steel cylindrical vats for 18 to 21 days, with two pump-overs each day. It then undergoes alcoholic fermentation in stainless steel vats at 20°, before being aged in barrels for 18 to 20 months.

Château Capbern wines, whatever their age, are characterized by their intense aromas, aromatic bouquet and tannins creating a harmony of flavors that brings sensations and emotion to the fine palates of every wine lover.
