THE HILT

The Hilt Estate is the creative home of winemaker Matt Dees. With the help of his team, he produces California white, red and rosé wines. Because of the climate, facing the Pacific Ocean, viticulture is complicated. The estate's Pinot Noir and Chardonnay vines struggle to survive. In these conditions, they offer few bunches and their fruit is small. But these small grapes, acidic and complex, also contain excellent aromas. A godsend for Matt Dees, who gives his all to give birth to his wines.

Location of Domaine The Hilt

Domaine The Hilt is located in the hills of California, in the heart of the Santa Rita Hills Valley. The vineyard covers three terroirs: Bentrock, Radian and Puerta del Mar. There are a variety of soils and microclimates, as well as different altitudes and wind exposures. The Pinot Noir and Chardonnay vines produce quality fruit. They enable the creation of singular wines, reflecting the identity of each terroir. Matt Dees also blends fruit selections to create red and white wines with an original style.

The Hilt Estate wines

The Hilt Estate offers a wide range of wines. Estate wines are blends that showcase the complexity and flavors that California has to offer. They include a Pinot Noir, a Chardonnay and a sparkling wine combining the two grape varieties. Then come the Single Vineyard wines. Each cuvée is made from a single grape variety and a single terroir. Bentrock is full-bodied and complex, Radian intense and Puerta del Mar elegant. Old Guard and Vanguard are the latest wines from The Hilt Estate. Old Guard is a full-bodied wine, while Vanguard offers a velvety texture. The wines in the Guard range are boldly-styled blends of Chardonnay and Pinot Noir.
