RHUM J.M.

The distillery that produces JM rum is one of the oldest on the island of Martinique. It is located on an estate that originally housed a sugar refinery,Habitation Bellevue. In 1790, Habitation Bellevue was bought by Antoine Leroux-Préville. He transformed it into the Fonds Préville estate. The estate then passed into the hands of Jean-Marie Martin. The sugar refinery became a distillery and took on the initials of its owner. Since 1914, the estate has been developed by the Crassous de Médeuil family.

Location of Rhum JM

The estate that produces Rhum JM extends over 400 hectares, near Mount Pelée, in the north of the island of Martinique. It is located near the Roche River. The estate uses this naturally available spring water to produce its rum. The soils of the estate's fields, of volcanic origin, are rich and fertile. The microclimate is ideal for growing sugar cane, with optimal sunshine and humidity levels.

Rhum JM rums

Rhum JM uses traditional Martinique techniques to produce its rums. The cane juice is extracted by grinding the cut cane using mills. The sugar is transformed into alcohol by fermentation in vats. Two traditional copper columns are then used to transform the cane wine into rum. Rhum JM is the only distillery that still burns its own aging casks.

Rhum JM produces AOC rums from Martinique: white and amber rums, as well as aged rums and rums hors d'âge. The range of JM aged rums includes JM, VSOP and XO rums. The aromas of Martinique emanate from the products of the JM rum distillery. They are a perfect illustration of the island's agricultural rum history.
