MATROT THIERRY & PASCALE
Thierry and Pascale Matrot have been managing the eponymous domaine since 2000. Located in Meursault, Côte-d'Or, south of Dijon, this estate has been producing Burgundy wines for almost two centuries. Worthy heirs to family traditions, they continue to produce with respect for the terroir. To achieve this, they follow the principle of "agriculture raisonnée" (sustainable agriculture). Their daughters Adèle and Elsa joined them in 2008. They represent the new generation of Domaine Matrot Thierry et Pascale.
Location of Domaine Matrot Thierry et Pascale
Domaine Matrot Thierry et Pas cale covers the communes of Meursault, Auxey-Duresses and Puligny-Montrachet. It also owns plots in Monthelie, Saint-Romain, Saint-Aubin and Volnay. The vines, planted with Aligoté, Pinot Noir and Chardonnay grapes, are cultivated with organic manure, and the plots are ploughed. Yields are checked during pruning and de-budding. Domaine Matrot wines are aged in 228-liter oak barrels for 11 to 18 months.
Domaine Matrot Thierry and Pascale wines
Thierry and Pascale Matrot produce white Burgundy wines, either Aligoté or Chardonnay. Bourgogne Aligoté, Bourgogne Chardonnay and the estate's seven Premiers Crus are all you need to discover their production. Premiers Crus include Saint-Aubin Le Chamois, Meursault-Blagny and Puligny-Montrachet Les Combettes.
On the red wine side, Domaine Matrot Thierry et Pascale offers Bourgogne Pinot Noir, Maranges Vieilles Vignes and Auxey-Duresnes. AOC wines also include Monthélie and Meursault Rouge. These are elegant, fruity wines worthy of Pinot Noir. The domaine also produces three Premiers Crus red wines. Maranges La Fussière Premier Cru is a full-bodied, rich wine from the southern Côte de Beaune. Volnay-Santenots Premier Cru is a complex, fruity wine with full-bodied tannins.
