MOREAU-NAUDET

Vintage after vintage, Domaine Moreau-Naudet becomes a great name for Chardonnay lovers. In 1993, Virginie and Stéphane Moreau-Naudet bought 7 hectares of vines in Chablis, Burgundy. The estate has since grown to almost 25 hectares, from which Grands Crus such as Valmur and Les Vaillons have emerged. Virginie Moreau-Naudet found herself alone at the helm of the family domaine after the death of her husband in 1996. Since then, she has lovingly continued the work begun together. Like the wines of Bordeaux and Champagne, Virginie gives her golden Chablis their letters of nobility.

Location of Domaine Moreau-Naudet

Chablis is a wine-growing commune in northern Burgundy, where the wine of the same name and Petit Chablis are produced. The wine here is white. The grape variety of choice in Burgundy is Chardonnay. The minerality of Chablis wines comes from a specific terroir. The subsoil is called Kimmeridgian. It consists of gray marl and limestone beds rich in oyster shells. Domaine Moreau-Naudet parcels face south-southwest.

Domaine Moreau-Naudet wines

Domaine Moreau-Naudet produces some 100,000 bottles and magnums a year. The character of many vintages is marked by climatic hazards: drought, frost or hail. The estate produces small yields. Many of Virginie Moreau-Naudet's wines are classified Premiers Crus.

Her Chablis Fôrets, Montée de Tonnerre, Montmains and Vaillons are all Premiers Crus. Valmur is a Premier Cru and Grand Cru appellation. Domaine Moreau-Naudet's Chablis are wines for laying down. 4, 5 or even 10 years in the cellar doesn't detract from their quality - quite the contrary. The Petit Chablis, Chablis and Chablis Caractère appellations are also must-haves from Virginie Moreau-Naudet's domaine.
