RAGOT

Domaine Ragot has been producing wine since 1760, and eight generations of winemakers have contributed to the estate's virtuous evolution. Initially located in Mercurey, the domaine emancipated itself from polyculture a century later by moving to Givry. The vineyard then developed on this terroir of excellence for Burgundy wines. In 2008, Nicolas Ragot took over from his father Jean-Paul.

The young winemaker modernized the estate to improve the quality of the wines produced. He equipped the vineyard with weather stations, enabling him to better manage the vines without the use of synthetic inputs. He also invested in a new winery. Finally, he is renovating the estate's energy-efficient buildings.

Geographical location of Domaine Ragot

Domaine Ragot covers around 9 hectares of land in Givry, in the heart of the Côte Chalonnaise. The vineyard comprises 6.5 hectares of Pinot Noir, 2 hectares of Chardonnay and 22 ares of Aligoté. 75% of the vines are over 40 years old. To refine the vineyard's management, Nicolas Ragot is reorganizing the plots. He also cleared a hillside to plant a new terroir in 2010 (Teppe des Chenèves).

His aim is to produce top-quality grapes. The winemaker therefore takes great care in selecting his vines and grape varieties. His approach is in line with the principles of organic farming and the preservation of living organisms. His philosophy: less intervention, but more care.
