LAMARCHE NICOLE
Nicole Lamarche manages the family's eponymous domaine in the famous commune of Vosne-Romanée, in the heart of the Côte de Nuits vineyards in the Burgundy region. She is in charge of the vines and vinification. Her cousin, Nathalie Lamarche, is in charge of accounting and marketing. The family estate dates back to the early 20th century, and Nicole and Nathalie represent the fifth generation of winegrowers. In 1933, the family acquired the land of La Grande Rue, which today constitutes the grand cru monopoly of Domaine Nicole Lamarche.
Geographical location of Domaine Nicole Lamarche
Domaine Nicole Lamarche covers a dozen hectares in the communes of Vosne Romanée, Nuits-Saint-georges, Flagey-Échezeaux and Vougeot. This is the mythical heart of the Côte de Nuits, world-famous for its great Burgundy wines. Grands crus are produced on parcels of ferruginous limestone soil with clay-marl, rocky or stony subsoils. The result is full-bodied wines that age well. The red wines of the Vosne-Romanée appellation come from plots with clay-limestone soils. These are lighter wines than the Premier Crus produced by Domaine Nicole Lamarche.
The domaine switched from sustainable agriculture toorganic farming in 2010. Nicole Lamarche harvests the grapes by hand and sorts them on tables. The wines are aged in oak barrels for 14 to 20 months, depending on the appellation and cuvée.
