TARDY JEAN & FILS
Domaine Jean Tardy et Fils is one of Vosne-Romanée's finest estates. Jean's father was a farmhand, then a tenant farmer at Domaine Méo-Camuzet. In 1966, Jean took over from his father. He began to develop his domaine, acquiring a number of parcels of Bourgogne Passetoutgrain in 1981, and by 2010 had built up a fine portfolio of terroirs. In 2003, his son Guillaume took over the running of the estate. Together, they work the vines with respect for the land, harvesting healthy fruit at its peak of ripeness. Traditional winemaking methods and 16-20 months of oak barrel ageing produce remarkable Burgundy wines, such as Nuits-Saint-Georges Premier Cru Aux Argillas.
Geographical location of Domaine Jean Tardy et Fils
Domaine Jean Tardy et Fils extends over 4.5 hectares, from north to south of the Côte de Nuits. It covers nine appellations: Burgundy Passetoutgrain, Chambolle-Musigny, Nuits-Saint-Georges, Vosne-Romanée, Fixin, Gevrey-Chambertin, Hautes-Côtes de Nuits, Échezeaux Grand Cru and Nuits-Saint-Georges Premier Cru. As the seasons go by, the estate's vines undergo short pruning, meticulous disbudding and green harvesting, to finally obtain fruit that is concentrated in sugar. The result is elegant, fine red wines.
Domaine Jean Tardy et Fils wines
Domaine Jean Tardy et Fils produces discreet, delicate red wines. Made from Pinot Noir grapes, they faithfully reflect the terroirs of the estate. Échezeaux Grand Cru is made from 80-year-old vines. This Burgundy red is elegant and powerful. Another wine from the domaine catches our eye. This is the Bourgogne Haute-Côtes de Nuits. It has a pretty ruby color and a nose with cherry aromas and spicy notes. With a beautiful structure on the palate, this wine is a tribute to the terroirs of Burgundy.
