The story of MJ TRICOT began in 1848, when Jean Ropiteau, a Burgundian winegrower, founded his trading house in Monthelie, before moving to Meursault in 15th and 17th century cellars. In the 1930s, his son André took charge of the estate. An avid traveler, he divided his time between Burgundy and the South Seas. He died on the battlefield in 1940.
His brother Jean, destined for the diplomatic service, took over the estate, passing it on to his children. In the 1970s, Jean sold the estate but kept the vines, which were precious to the family. Marie Josèphe Ropiteau-Tricot, his eldest daughter, looks after the estate.
In 2018, Vincent Tricot, a direct descendant, took up the torch and created MJ TRICOT, an "owner - non-harvesting - seller" company. While remaining faithful to the family roots and the terroir of Meursault, the vinification and aging of the wines are entrusted to Bouchard Père & Fils, a renowned house. Today, MJ TRICOT wines embody 170 years of expertise, expressing the richness of the Meursault terroirs with a constant respect for family tradition .
Geographical location of Domaine MJ Tricot
Domaine MJ Tricot is located in Meursault. Vincent Tricot, his mother, brothers and sisters own the vines on the family estate. These are spread over the villages of Puligny-Montrachet, Meursault and Monthélie.
The white wine vines (Chardonnay) are located on plots at altitudes of between 260 and 300 meters. They correspond to the prestigious climats of the Meursault appellation.
The red Burgundy vines (Pinot Noir) are located in the Monthélie appellation terroir. They flourish on an ancestral parcel of the Tricot family estate: Les Champs Fulliot. On this terroir, the vines, protected by stone walls, benefit from an exceptional geological context.
Domaine MJ Tricot wines
Domaine MJ Tricot offers four Côte de Beaune white wines in the Meursault Premier Cru appellation. These are the cuvées Perrières, Charmes, Le Porusot and Les Gouttes d'Or. The Puligny-Montrachet Premier Cru cuvée Les Chalumeaux completes the domaine's range of Premiers Crus. Not to mention two expressive white wines, one in the Meursault Village appellation and the second in Burgundy Chardonnay. For red wines, Domaine MJ Tricot offers the prestigious Monthélie appellation Premier Cru cuvée Clos Les Champs Fulliots.
